The world’s first SNT-TC-1A MFL training course has been completed.

Silverwing have just successfully conducted the world’s first BINDT validated SNT-TC-1A MFL training course for the inspection of Above Ground Storage Tanks (AST’s).

The course is designed for all levels of MFL technicians and tank engineers, culminating in a qualification that helps prove equipment and theory competency.

The inaugural course was attended by TechCorr (Denmark) and IRIS NDT (UK) with attendee’s knowledge ranging from Level III technicians, API and EEMUA tank engineers, experienced MFL technicians and trainees.

Valuable information and experience was exchanged and it was unanimously decided that the course was very beneficial, not just because it supports competency assessment, but because a true understanding of MFL and its behaviour is achieved meaning technicians and engineers can gain more knowledge of an asset, and so in turn make better and more reliable decisions with regards to code compliance and maintenance programs.

During the two weeks all attendees were engrossed in all things MFL from simple equipment operation to the latest MFL concepts.

This course represents the first phase towards making the MFL technique for tank inspection an industry standard and expected qualification.
