Silverwing is now part of Eddyfi Technologies

Silverwing is part of Eddyfi Technologies, a group offering high-performance NDT solutions for the inspection of critical components and assets through two strong, complementary brands: Eddyfi and Silverwing.

Silverwing UK Ltd began to trade in January 1983, under the name Silverwing Limited, as a service inspection company specialising in Non Destructive Testing (NDT), Contract Management, Training and Consultancy. Initially the company specialised in aircraft NDT, Tube Inspection for the Nuclear and Petrochemical industries and training and consultancy in those industries.

In 1985 the Company was asked to undertake the training of Nigerian staff for Shell in Western Nigeria. Following the success of this contract Shell invited the Company to tender for the management of Shell's inspection activities in Nigeria. The tender was successful and the resulting contracts ran from 1986 to 1991. At its peak, the contracts in Nigeria employed 120 indigenous inspection staff and 20 expatriate supervisory engineers. Silverwing supplied the equipment and consumables for both divisions of Shell during this period, and some 900 man-weeks of training, examination and certification provided for indigenous staff.

In 1991 / 92 the Company's policy of maintaining a technical lead over it’s competitors led to investment in the development of Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) equipment to detect underfloor corrosion in bulk liquid storage tanks. Initially the intention was to provide an added inspection service to the company’s portfolio for our petrochemical clients and in 1992 Silverwing became only the third company in the world to have a working MFL floor scanner. News of the success of the MFL equipment quickly spread around the industry and following enquiries from the USA and Saudi Arabia it was decided to add equipment manufacture and sale to the company’s activities. In direct response to customer request development of computerised storage, evaluation and mapping of MFL results was undertaken resulting in the development of the Floormap MFL system which is now the World’s leading MFL mapping floor scanner.

In 2000, the company was restructured under the name Silverwing (UK) Limited and is now a specialist Non destructive examination (NDE) equipment manufacturer concentrating on the Above Ground Storage Tank (AST) market. The Company manufactures a comprehensive range of Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) corrosion detection and sizing floor scanners and a complimentary range of Ultrasonic (UT) wall crawlers. Our NDT equipment is designed for maximum results and minimum operator dependency ensuring complete corrosion detection and monitoring. Our patented equipment is in use in over 63 different countries worldwide, in a wide variety of climatic conditions.
