Eddyfi Expands its Family of I-Flex™ Products

This low-profile scanner is designed to inspect the outer surface of tubes and pipes along their axis.

As a world leader in advanced inspection systems and niche NDT solutions, Eddyfi Technologies is happy to announce the launch of the universal I-Flex manual pipe scanner. This scanner was developed to make it easier for users to deploy Eddyfi I-Flex probes on tubes and pipes. It is the only low-profile scanner on the market to inspect tubes and pipes 42–170 mm (1.25–6.00 in NPS) in outer diameters with the I-Flex line of probes.

Users can now easily replace multiple uncomfortable manual scans by one rapid, encoded axial scan, while maintaining a constant clock position during acquisition.

Thanks to the modular, click-on chain links, the manual pipe scanner can be clamped onto pipes and tubes without using any tools, making it the best clamping device for on-site inspections. The scanner’s flexibility also enables users to perform all the necessary calibration procedures while the probe is mounted in it before deployment on tubes or pipes. This further contributes to improve the eddy current array scan speed.

“This is a robust and easy-to-deploy addition to the I-Flex probe family,” said Angélique Raude, surface inspection product manager at Eddyfi. “It’s quick to deploy and fits a wide range of pipe diameters. We are very proud of this new product.”

Not only does the scanner make it faster and easier to deploy I-Flex probes, but the quality of the inspection data is also much improved, as it overcomes unwanted effects from operators such as wobbling and uneven pressure.
