Electronic Assembly Technician (Swansea)

Position Overview

We currently have a rare and fantastic opening at our Silverwing site, based at Swansea to join an innovative forward-thinking company and work as part of a friendly and highly motivational team in an excellent working environment.

Silverwing is a world leading, rapidly growing business within the NDT Industry undertaking design, development and manufacture of specialist inspection equipment for the non-destructive testing (NDT) industry.

Relationships

Reports to Production Manager.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Produce electronic parts and sub-assemblies
  • Testing of sub-assemblies and parts using electronic test equipment such as scopes and multi-meters
  • Final assembly of systems
  • Creating new and updating existing build instructions to latest specification
  • Perform calibration, final test and documentation and packing of new and returned products
  • Repair of electronic systems to component level
  • Use drawings, schematics, electronic assembly equipment and verbal/written instructions to assemble, modify, rework or re-assemble units
  • Carry out tasks that are repetitive in nature with the ability to recognise non-conformity
  • Work with the production engineering and the development team to improve product and manufacturing methods
  • Work as part of the Production Team to achieve Production Targets and KPIs
  • Involvement in annual stocktakes
  • Ensure that Company Quality Policy and Procedures are applied
  • Ensure that Company Health & Safety Policy and Procedures are applied
  • Any other duties as required by the Production supervisor/Manager

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications/Training

  • GCSE’s grade C or above in Mathematics, science and English or Equivalent BTEC HNC/HND or higher in electronic discipline

Essential Experience

  • Minimum 3-6 years working in an electronic manufacturing environment
  • Lead free through hole and surface mount hand soldering
  • Good knowledge and understanding of analogue and digital circuits
  • Experience of fault finding and root analysis

Required Skills

  • Ability to solder to a high level and knowledge of IPC-A-610
  • Work as team toward shared objectives
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to interface with people at all levels
  • Must be able to work well individually with limited supervision
  • Must be able to work accurately, efficiently
  • Attention to detail
  • Familiar with Lean 5s
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to problem solve under pressure and think outside the box
  • Highly motivated and flexible as overtime is sometime required
